Are you unsure of how to make your cat happier? Try these tips to make your cat purr with happiness! The tips below will not take much of your time but will ensure that you have a healthy and happy cat.
1.Pay Attention To Her Basic Needs
When you understand a cat’s basic needs, you can raise a healthy and happy pet. Your cat needs a high quality diet that is balanced and complete, according to petMD. To prevent obesity, the diet should be appropriate for your feline friend’s lifestage and it should be not be overfed.
Keep in mind that fresh water needs to be available at all times. Water consumption should be encouraged through the use of water fountains, dripping faucets, and other devices to interest your cat in her water supply. You can feed your cat a diet of canned food in order to keep her stay hydrated, as canned food has a high moisture content.
Don’t forget to keep your cat’s litter box clean. If you have more than one cat, you should provide multiple litter boxes. The rule of thumb is one litter box per cat. This is because cats greatly prefer not to share litter boxes. Make sure the litter box is easily accessible and in a quiet location where your feline friend will not be disturbed while using the box.
2.Toys And Games
Cats need plenty of toys to play with! Every indoor cat should have toys for batting around, toys for chasing and toys to hide inside. Provide plenty of toys for your furry feline to keep her occupied and entertained. Toys and games help to keep your cat fit and she will enjoy the play time too.
Many cats enjoy toys with catnip and there are several other herbs you could try. Always consult your veterinarian before giving your cat any herbs.
Get some fresh cat grass or a catnip plant for your pet cat as she loves to munch grass in the wild. Try to always have a fresh plant ready when you need to replace the old one. Keep in mind that there are many household plants are dangerous to cats, including Lillies, Sago Palm, Tulips, Dahlia and Amaryllis. You may check out what are cats allergic to.
If your feline friend likes to nibble on plants, catnip is way more enjoyable than the houseplants.
4.Let Her Scratch
Cats scratch when they feel comfortable, happy, and anticipate something good! Cats need their claws and scratching is a normal cat behavior. Your furry feline scratches to mark herterritory, keep her claws in shape and to stretch her muscles. Be sure to give her permissible scratching areas. Some cats like vertical surfaces and others may prefer scratching horizontally. You may try varying the scratching material. Sisal rope, carpet and cardboard are a few you can try. According to Life With Cats, cats prefer scratching on textured surfaces. Wood, sisal, coir and corrugated cardboard scratchers work well. Be sure the scratching pads and posts are large and sturdy. You should place the scratching post in a desirable location where your feline friend will use it, too.
5.Go Wild And Change It Up
Go wild with perches and climbing systems! Consider how cats live in the wild when creating your cat’s indoor environment. You can mimic outdoor conditions by simply moving furniture around or by investing in window perches, cat trees and climbing systems.
According to Vetstreet, changing the environment a little on a regular basis is another way to keep your cat happy. Moving the cat tree or scratching post to a different corner or to the center of the room—your feline friend may see it as new again.
7.Spend Quality Time With Her
Put aside some time during your busy day to spend playing with your feline friend. She will appreciate it and the bond between you will deepen as a result. Play with her regularly as cats will become bored and depressed. Here are some games to keep your cat entertained!
Talk to her and praise her gloriously. It’s a great way to show our love to our cats. We believe that cats can never get enough of us telling them how great they are – praising them makes us happy too!
