It’s important to recognize that animals are part of our society – and we can make a difference for animals by taking part in wildlife conservation or helping them! 1.Zoo Negara
Take part in wildlife conservation volunteering with Zoo Negara! The volunteer programme is open to everyone aged 16 and above. You will be involved in daily operations at Zoo Negara Malaysia, namely husbandary, feeding, exhibit projects, exhibit modification and behavioural enrichments for the animals. For registration, call the Education Department of Zoo Negara (EDU) to reserve your booking at 03-41083422, fill in an application form and bring along the form on your volunteering day. Note that a fee for every registration will be charged and this fee also for the contribution of wildlife environmental education programme.

2.Lang Tengah Turtle Watch
Collect and protect! Here’s how you can help protect the endangered turtles in the country! As a volunteer, you will be involved in nightly beach patrols, collecting data from adult turtles, nests and hatchlings, assisting in running conservation and more. Founded by Hayati Mokhtar and Raphe van Zevenbergen, Lang Tengah Turtle Watch Project is the most crucial step towards the ultimate preservation of these majestic creatures is to help ensure that the new generations actually make it out to sea.

3.Juara Turtle Project
Juara Turtle Project strives to develop highly considerate practices regarding Sea Turtles and environment in and around Kg Juara and Tioman Island, while also creating a research database of the natural life on and around Tioman Island for use as reference and as support for protection of Tioman’s ecosystems. As a volunteer, you will get involved with various activities, including morning beach walk patrol for nesting, morning boat patrols for nesting, night monitor hatchery, night beach walk patrol for nesting, day time guiding visitors and more.

4.Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre
Play an active role in the protection and rehabilitation of the Sun Bear! Known as BSBCC, The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre is based approximately 19km from Sandakan town. Volunteers from all over the world are welcomed to join the conservation effort to help these sun bears. You will work with different sun bears depending on the needs of the bears, keepers or the centre. From animal husbandry to education, you will learn about sun bears in the stages of rehabilitation and the process of releasing them back into the wild.

5.SPCA Selangor
Are you looking for a way to make a difference for animals? Volunteering with SPCA Selangor! Based in Ampang Jaya, Selangor, SPCA Selangor provides an adoption program, investigation of cruelty reports, humane education, assistance to community animal caregivers and run a dedicated, low-cost spay/neuter clinic. As a volunteer, you will be involved with activities such as the morning sessions of cleaning, helping to prepare and serve meals to the animals, kennel guides (assisting the public when choosing an animal), socializing the animals and general housekeeping duties.

6.Cat Beach Penang
Purrfect for any cat lovers, Cat Beach Sanctuary is a place to come if you want to be rewarded with more kitty cuddles than you ever dreamed of! Based right on the beach in the small fishing village Teluk Bahang in Penang, Cat Beach is a sanctuary and loving home for 250 plus cats rescued from desperate situations. 7.Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist – H.O.P.E
Spending your time on bathing the furkids at the biggest shelter in Malaysia – H.O.P.E! Founded by Aunty Jia Jia, she began to rescue animals in 2007. It’s a 100% no-kill animal shelter for all breeds of dogs and cats. They have a variety of activities or duties and they are constantly in need of volunteers. From writers to animal rescuers, simply send an e-mail to them if you feel you can commit to them!
